![]() There are not so many trees around, none like I remember from back east, but here is one, by the river, calling to me, with limbs outstretched, beseeching me feel my voice, still, letting me know of its need to rest, this long winter. I left the soddy’s warmth behind, for I heard Wind a’calling, not hidden by song of redbird or chickadee, nor raven, or hawk, but only sounds of lone brother owl, waiting, in the offing, for footsteps in the snow. And there, the tree, with winter’s coat so cold. Draw me, it decreed, color my soul with life of winter so I sketched, bare-fingered in chilling cold, but what good are lines of black and white, for who will know this tree still breathes? The river is iced, and quiet. No sound of breaking, yet. I listen for the voices. They come in tentative break of shadow, speaking, Hidden below are magnificent leaves of summer, nude are these branches of hope, and where might growth of promise be found in the stark belie? Here. For on these limbs is promise in this blanket of white, for it will melt, then meld to seep within, so that warm greens which are hidden in sleep, will reach forth, once again. See the buds? Like my children, back there in the soddy, where warmth of sleeping hearts and glowing hearth await. Night darkens. I am glad Wind spoke, calling me here. I see a brief, small, suddenly gone break in clouds, where dark blue and one star appears. I know I will survive Winter, now. |

this is just absolutely beautiful... "Painting is poetry which is seen and not heard, and poetry is a painting which is heard but not seen." ~Leonardo da Vinci |

Karilea... "I am glad Wind spoke, calling me here. I see a brief, small, suddenly gone break in clouds, where dark blue and one star appears. I know I will survive Winter, now." This echos in my own heart. |

The river is iced, and quiet. No sound of breaking, yet. this speaks volumes to me Karilea. Wonderful writing as always ![]() M Beauty of the world which is soon to perish has two edges, one of laughter and one of anguish, cutting the heart asunder. |
