I sure can't write like the masters but if I could
I would love my son no more than I did last night
as I watched him bathe his two girls, and get them ready for bed.
I was truly blessed with my son, and this one is for him.

I look inside for the answers wondering if this love I live
Could ever be matched to any poetic words?
There, flashes of memories light the way as I try blazing a trail
To find the muse that sometimes lives within my mind.
It is her who gives my heart and soul its wings.

What gentle words could ever possibly describe this feeling?
The love, pride, or completeness held so close to my heart?
How could I write showing the gratitude of being included
Seems so small to you but it gives my life a purpose?

I ache so for the words to describe the very essence of you,
How I feel about you now, and how much love there was even then.
How can I even begin to write and make up for time lost?
There are no words.

I sit back in awe at the wonder of you and all you’ve become.
The laughing voices of your children break up my thoughts
Just in time to stop a slowly escaping tear.
Was it of love, laughter, or just being in a place of gratitude?

Are those stars I saw reflected in your eyes last night?
Hand in hand, you held each of them so delicately,
Warming them with a smile, laughter, a loving poke here or there.
I see their love, feel it, and know that it will always be this way.

How did you become this man so wise, caring and complete?
Daily you walk so imbedded in my memory.
One day will you too sit as I do now in simple wonder?
That such a simple event can bring such love and joy to a heart
Is beyond my wildest imagination.

Will you too watch one of your own children someday,
While a simple bath being given to their child makes you
Feel so lost for the words, but wanting to scream out loud,
Or whisper in their ear so very softly,
That beyond a shadow of a doubt, you love them,
More than any words could ever say!

For my son, my friend, my daughter-in-love's husband, and the father to
the sweetest cherries on this Gramma's sundae.

~* I Love You *~

Sharon...I know this feeling when you see your child being a father and giving so much love...it is like the completion of a circle and it feels like there couldn't possibly be words to express it...but you have, and very well!  Thank you for sharing this.

You are all very kind and I can see also very understanding.   Martie is right it is like your life comes full circle somehow.  Watching them I knew if I left this earth tomorrow I had indeed made a difference, I did in fact make him I think our children are the best legacy we have, and they speak volumes of who we were, or perhaps who we would have liked to have been.  Again, thank you so kindly for sharing that moment with me, it truly was a special one.

Sharon my friend, you are simply beautiful inside and out … and this is a testament to that.  I often wonder what I have missed in life by not being blessed with children … and this is the essence of it. Truly beautiful. Thank you for bringing me this feeling through your words. Todd is such a lucky young man to be a part of you. I hope he knows that as we do through your thoughts.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

I am glad you enjoyed this inter-action between just some mother and son, imagine how often this is common day to so many?  Precious our children, no matter what the age, precious.

Sharon, this is one of the best poems of love I have ever read. The love just oozes out of my monitor and surrounds me. Your son is so fortunate to have you for a mom and you are so blessed to have him for a son.

May you always enjoy each other's caring gifts.

Love to you and your family, Marti

I take no credit for my poems. Although I write them, I feel
more like I transcribe them. It's just a matter of listening.

I am actually overwhelmed with the acceptance of this poem.  Never was very "mushy" until my daughter-in-law came into the picture, so this is her doing honest!  She is more than a mother could ever want for her son, and more.  So very happy you enjoyed this and I still believe it is hard to put love into words, and it is better shown, but what do I know?  Thank you all so much.

I'd say ya do "mushy" quite nicely Sharon.

Sharon, that was a touching write. You have a strong adornment for your son and family and captured it so well in poetic essence. And I do have to disagree with you on something with your opening line. You do write like one of the masters and it is a pleasure to be in your company and admire your work.

Margherita ~ Thank you and hope all is well your way.
Ravenwolfvoyager ~ Well I keep good company

I guess you all know I darn near lost my son last year, and we wondered if he would ever be the same.  Actually, he is not, but we love this new version even more than I can say, so thank you all so much. Now, go hug someone you love for no reason.
