Under the Judean hills sleeps a land torn The dead lining up to be born Prophesies lying in shattered slate As the land once born of peace now dies in hate Tired clouds reside over pallid sand The reflection of a blessed hand Possessing stolen land Gnawing the forgotten as they breathe While forlorn eyes tie the street weave White flags cover crowded faces Sitting lost in unpaged places Palestinian tears falling on an empty plate Under sight of eyes that glare out a window of hate The voiceless child sings deaths lullaby To the solider that forgot how to cry Echoing through the quiet earth As stones reflect bullets in wounded turf |

Ben, very impressive. I wondered at the five lines in the second stanza, wondering if the last two lines are both needed. My mind also played a little with combining the last two lines in the second stanza, but I didn't come up with anything substantive, yet. But overall, the impact of the poem was good. |
