Autumn Drifts they gently fall like snowflake down those autumn leaves of tawny gold there seems to be no tree at hand yet their color is well tolled they waft upon the breeze, you see they flit and float and fly bringing ‘round a dream so sweet of autumn’s wane to dry one might think this season is a time to die or sleep yet waiting on the ground they rest till spring and winsome creep oh, Carpet Gold, lie still, lie still, paint the earth your lovely hue for winter’s rest was made for you to feed next spring’s request ©October 28, 2003 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
