Out Making Anticlines

He Would Like

Oh he would like to give it up,
simply bolt for the nearest horizon
and keep on tumbling on until
somewhere it isn’t always noon,
someplace where a moon will rise
up over random buildings,
where he’d sit day after night
on a stair or a ledge over a sidewalk
playing maybe a saxophone
for nothing but a D-minor tremolo
off the end of an empty street.

Things would take care of themselves
then, or not. It wouldn’t be a concern,
and he would be the bluesbird
with music pouring out of him
like water from a fountain, a steady mild
blown by that mellow horn out there
or spoken in off-white rooms
where he might return night after day,
a place with play posters on the wall
and a scent of rose, an alcove
off the world where he could hear
the sound of his own smile again.

Oh he would like that very much.

And I like this very much. *S* This haunts me with melodies that linger from street musicians I've heard... playing every bit as much for themselves and the night as for the tips they'll take home.

And yet... there are other levels... each one more beautiful.  *S*

Jamie

Sometimes I have wished for a similar place, someplace where there was no worry, no regret, just peace and some lovely music to make.  I think it's a bit sad, yet human to feel this way.

You're playing my song James....
Gosh, I really loved this bluesy tune of yours.

One more time now, big guy~
