To hear your voice
Is to light heart's lantern
Steps that would stumble
Hesitant and uneven
Bumping through darkness
Become sure and steady
Secure on the path.

To hear your voice
Is to capture sunrise
At the exact moment
Dim turns to glow
Night shadows retreat
Before the beam of hope
A new day brings.

To hear your voice
Is to find banquet
Where aromas tease
And promise fulfillment
Hunger’s ache
Is but a memory
In view of feast.

To hear your voice
Is to know the warmth
And protection provided
By glowing hearth
On winter night
The outside chill
Cannot penetrate.

To hear your voice
Is to find belief
In the existence of heaven
And all it promises
For angel choirs
Could not sound so sweet
As to hear your voice.

This was written a while ago... hope it aged well. *S*

Oh my, Ruth, you know that I can certainly
relate to this romantic poem. I hope you don't
mind that I'm keeping it!!

Ruth, I read this from a spiritual point of view, which of course only gets better with age it was simply lovely, whichever way you intended it.  I felt the warmth from it reading it my way.

We age and change but our voices always remain the same - and what a wonderful poem you have written.  Thank you.

Sunshine:  Fitting for someone who’s often a bit crackers, right? LOL Thank you so much!

LeeJ: I’m so glad you enjoyed… Thank you very much! *S*

Seymour: As are you, my friend. *S* Thank you so much. *S*

garysgirl: Mind?? *S* You’re kidding, right? *S* I’m thrilled! *S* Thank you!

Mysteria: You know... I’m definitely a closet poet and am more comfortable penning than posting. But your response makes my comfort zone feel more like an albatross… For one of the great joys of writing is knowing what those words mean to others… I truly thank you! *S*

Honeybunch: Yes… we can hear a voice we haven’t heard in years and recognize it instantly. *S* Thank you very much!

iliana: That you find it so touches me deeply… thank you so much! *S*

Undeniably true, Laura. The voice can say so much that is independent of the words it speaks or the inflections it renders. You really captured this one.

And need I mention that your poetic voice keeps getting clearer and stronger -- keep it coming!

Martie: Thank you! *S* Profound deafness runs in my family… so I ‘ve always tried to listen … just in case there’s a time when I can’t. *S* This is on a similar theme… /pip/Forum30/HTML/000480.html

Enchantress: Thank you very much… I’m glad you liked! *S*

Ravenwolfvoyager: What a wonderful response… I thank you so for your kindness! *S*

Ratleader: Yes… it can. *S* Just as eyes mirror the soul, voices tell tales on us, too. *S* Thank you so much, my friend… that’s definitely a mention I appreciate beyond measure! *S*

PS: Between you and Sunshine, we have the makings of a party! *S* Thank you so much! *S*

J.Samm: How very perceptive… and complimentary! *S* Thank you so very much… Welcome to Passions! *S*

Toerag: I seem to be accomplishing the “older” with greater efficiency than the “better”! LOL Thank you so much, my blues-loving friend! *S*

JM: ROFLMAO… You’re a brat, you know that? LOL But that’s okay… I DID enjoy hearing your voice… so there! *G* And yes, it’s been quieter… but my wish is for your mothy butt to get back here. *G* Thank you… for both your kindness to the poem and the giggles. *G*

Suthern beloved one, this is simply exquisite. I often hear your voice in my mind when I read your beautiful words. This gem flowed with such beauty it sang with your voice, a lovely lilt that caressed my soul with the touch of angels’ wings.

There are in this world many pleasures but one of the best is reading your writing darling one and let it wash my soul in serenity and joy. Thank you for this wonder it is a beautiful sample of your artistry.

May I keep it in my library pretty please?
