Persephone By: Noah Eaton 1/11/03 She went out picking flowers on the boondocks Innocence was her middle name, that was all she got Yet who knew that her name alone can bring destruction Who anticipated the patriarchical revulsion? She wore a charm-bracelet her mother handed down to her Helped harvest the corn, bathed in the spring waters Who knew behind the hollyhocks A usurper was grinning with a menacing scoff And before you know it you're taken away Your summers tattered, abducted and raped If you only knew just how good it could have been I've never seen this side of you before What's ineluctable cannot be compromised We could have lived twelve months But you will only live eight... No, no, you will only live eight... Demeter comes crying, holding her bracelet Swears she'd do anything to rescue her from the chthonic A mother knows best, while Zeus knows squat To let the ying and the yang co-exist in the same pot Pomegranate is stained on her lips, she can't go back Battalions of purple heartbeats begin to attack While the last decent poet stares behind her veil Where kundalini has a last resort to prevail And now they accuse the elders as crones The avatar is silenced from the throne If you only knew just how good it could have been I've never seen this side of you before What's ineluctable cannot be compromised If you only knew just how good it could have been We could have lived twelve months But you and I will only live eight No, no, you and I will only live eight... . . . . . . Why must we compromise? Why have sense of time? Why think of inunction When we're trivialitized Unbridled, carefree souls Forced to have to think of Hades With all their mothers crying tonight... Where Rhea is aging with a menopaused insight... . . . . . . You and I will only live eight months No, no, you and I will only live eight months... . . . . . . If you only knew just how good it could have been I've never seen this side of you before What's ineluctable cannot be compromised If you only knew just how good it could have been We could have lived twelve months But you will only live eight... No, no, you will only live eight... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I would go back home where I belong But I'm way out in the background... I would go back home where I belong But I'm way out in the background... I would go back home where I belong But I'm way out in the background... "You'll find something that's enough to keep you But if the bright lights don't receive you You should turn yourself around and come back home" MB20 |

Hi Noah, Thanks for saharing another of your songs with us. I still would love to hear the music, too. Do you write your own music? Hugs Ethel |
