The radio channel flits
in and out,
until a corner’s turned…

Some long ago sung song
of early morning rain
as airplanes leave and won’t take me
sparking a tinge
to soak a memory

Somewhere, still, a strummed guitar
hits on chords of near
and far
as faces left alone stream by
if only behind my own
mind’s eye

Its been too long to feel again
emotions of yesterday
for home is gone
and so am I
for neither of us could stay

Someday I’ll feel
the rain again
let it wash my soul’s cage,
take the withered from this stance
and freshen to youth old age.

Music is like scent, I think. Ever smelled a particular fragrance and thoughts you haven't had in years return? Like the rose scent...reminds me of my grandma Flossie. Music is the same for me. A certain song will flash me back to a memory I haven't had in a bit. Our mind is funny that way. Always connecting senses with memory.
