I set my throne upon my father’s grave,
And dwell amongst the shadows of his life;
A quest to continue his verve I shall not save,
Onward I journey far from this night.

Bequeath my face to the quill like tears,
And sacrifice my heart before the arrow and bow.
I heed to an ever essence fountain drawing near,
That shall lend me escape amongst its water flow.

I stand now before myself in a mystique queue,
Awaiting my return from the nowhere that I have come;
Seeking the fruits of an endeavor that I shall feast as food,
Retrieve a plate of spoils which has left me desolate and numb.

Will not one understand my plea to be hidden?
Or wonder if my spirit has some how been surmised?
Will I forever walk exposed and transparent?
Or must I lay rest to the father and son before my spirits rise.

Hello Jeff

These words touched deep inside my heart as I thought about my own father and the wonderful relationship we had.  As always, your words speak volumes.

Take care.........Sue

Good to see you here again.
These lines bring life to the memories of forever times.  Some are bright, some are dim.  Excellent write. TD

Yes is the only answer I can think off

Life awaits your invitation to live for better or worse as you are able

Maybe I'm not reading this right, but I felt a sense of regret in your words. You've woven a tale that's braided with meaning. I will come back again to read it. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Ravenwolf...Some hard questions in this emotive poem, that I believe only you can answer. As always I enjoy your skill.

RWV...

Only an artisan of your skill level could evoke such passion from so few words. Thank you.

I set my throne upon my father’s grave,
And dwell amongst the shadows of his life;

A powerful introduction... ending with questions that may have no answers... I like this very much! *S*
