One Effect

My skin has lost its fat soft bed
And when it’s bruised stays angry red
It takes two weeks to disappear
And stays beyond its welcomes wear

It is a thing of hapless age
It is a symbol of a stage
A reading of the gauge of prime
The writing of old father time

That along with other coups
The least of which distorts the view
I needn’t paint a picture dreary
That would make the scene too weary

And I in truth can only say
A cast of symbols weighs my day
And I in honesty confess
The weight of aging is a mess

Forgive this anti bittersweet
This box of candy is deplete

Smiling.  My mother-in-law is 95.  I hear her constantly say, "don't get this old."  I ask her what is my alternative?  And we both enjoy a laugh.

Sy, age is only a number.  And I wish you a long, happy and healthy life because I like your style.

I thought of aging hands, when I read "lost it's fat soft bed".  There are days, although I have a fat soft bed covering most of me, that I feel ancient, at 34.  I tend to be a different age at different hours of the day.  Good write.

Hey, Sy - Perfect description.  If I smooch ya on your cheek again, will it stay there for awhile?

I'm headed to your part of the country at the end of this month.  I hope to meet up with you two and Mike again.  Drop me a line.

Hi Seymour, is it cold in your part of Florida?
the cold seems to make a body feel older, doesn't it? LOL
This made me think of my "Age Is Just A Number" poem.
I think I'll go get it and repost. LOL

excellent write, Sy!   This reminds me of my grandpa's aging spots.  Although they were on his hands, they didn't slow him down.  His mind was frisky! He had a young mind like someone else I know at Passions...

You never cease to amaze me, Sir.  I would gladly drink from the river of your muse...  to be able to write a new beauty every single day...  Wow!  Good to read you again, Sy.

This aging thing,  I must confess
does bring to me some sure duress
for bruises I do get as well
and seems forever they all dwell.

New spots and places I've never seen
my eyes with glasses newly glean
A spot now here that once was not
Oh my,  what has this aging wrought?

I creak and crack in my old back
I slowly rise now from my sack
some exercise I surely lack
and bruises come red, blue and black.

I know of what you do express
I surely feel this is a mess
But He has given me great joy
of being a child, man and boy.

Thanx Sy,  I know of what you speak,  so
very well....
