The forecast was for lots of snow, A blizzard on the plains, That could only mean one thing, For me it took no brains, I got my coat, because I knew, At home I would not stay, ‘Cause it is written, what wives must do, When snow is on the way. Dear you better get some milk, A loaf or two of bread, Out the door and in the car, To the store I then did head, Of course the parking lot was full, I had to walk a mile, Then in the store; as lemmings we men All dashed to the dairy aisle, I got the milk and got the bread, Then to the checkout counter, I rather would have fought a bear, Than suffer that encounter, The line snaked past the twinkie rack, It seemed at least a billion, But I admit exaggeration, At best it was a million. Ahead of me stood half the town, The male half, by the way, Each one with a loaf of bread, And milk, what can I say, Other than I my poor feet ached, And the kickoff I did miss, At least I got to ruminate, On the joys of marital bliss. It seemed like an eternity, But again, exaggeration, It only took me an hour or two To reach my destination. The register was now in sight, Soon my task would be complete, Back to home and the playoff game, I’d rest my aching feet. Just then I heard a stranger say, The snow has passed up by, The weatherman blew another forecast, It seems that we’ll stay dry. Now I am not a man of anger, I’m prone not to frustration, But I admit a tinge of want, To engage in annihilation. I did not, and headed home, I’d still catch some of the game, In the door and to the kitchen, When I heard my name, Tim, why don’t you take the bread and milk, To Mrs. Smith next door, We already have so much, We don’t need any more. And by the way, that football game, I guess you missed a good ‘un, They said something about an overtime, And a field goal, K.C. won. |
