I Know That Place

That void where laughter never shines,
Where sorrow slinks like creeping vines,
That dreadful pit you cannot face ...
Oh yes, my friend - - - I know that place.

That crevice where the wounded hide,
Where anguish festers ‘neath the tide,
That emptiness you can’t embrace ...
Oh yes, it’s true - - - I know that place.

That hole where darkness swallows light,
Where terror crawls through birthing night,
That hollow fear you can’t erase ...
Oh yes, indeed - - - I know that place.

That chasm that consumes the mind,
Where “what if’s” play in slow rewind,
That endless loop you can’t outrace ...
Oh yes, I fear - - - I know that place.

That room where you feel all alone,
Where seeds of woe are strewn and thrown,
Look through the haze ... you’ll see my face ...

You’re not alone - - - I know that place.

How wonderful it is to see you finally finding time to leave us some penned wisdom...

how many of us truly know that place, indeed...a good reminder that we are never really, truly alone...

Kit - This is an incredible poem.  I love the flow and the way you illuminated "the place."  Absolutely brilliant.

I also know WHY you know that place - You've been to the Scallawags and Rascals Convention, haven't you?  You met Toerag and Balladeer there.  Didn't you?  I warned you to not go there!  Alas!  Alack!  Why oh why didn't you heed my warnings? [insert lots of woeful sighs here]

How did you find time from your "Smilie Construction Ltd" to put such a lovely write together.  Ken

Kit, I was thinking the same think as Sharon....
I know so many people who are, or have
been, in"that place"....myself included.

If you don't mind, I'm going to send some e-cards
from this poem. It is so beautiful, and you
are so wise, sweet lady.
Hugs to you,
Ethel

Kit...I know that place very well....My wife takes me there all the time, it must be Wally World ( Walmart )...Only joking.
Your writing touches me deeply. That place you write of can be so cold and lonely at times and other times a comfort to us, where we can reflect on our lives. Thanks so much for sharing...Paul

If you could see me as I am,
Not as you think of me,
You'd know that this "place"
Is where this clown should be.

I live there each day,
Hiding myself
With clown-like antics
But misery from hell.

You hit "me" and my "place" on the head
sweets.....

It's a beautiful piece of writing, Kit. If you do know that place then you were only visiting because your world is a positive one, filled with hope, laughter and kindness.

The flow of this poem is second to none. It would make a wonderful torch song

Kit, I have been away for a while, but was thrilled to see this work posted by you on my return. It is well-written, perfect form, and carries a very important message. You have quite a sensitive side, I think, and it shows in your work. I look forward to reading more of your work.

Beautiful work.
