Unclaimed Heart

An unclaimed heart
Formed by a golden hand
Weighed on a golden scale
Measured by a golden ruler
Attainable in a golden land.
An unclaimed heart
Power determined by gold
Strength made of gold
Value that of gold
Lasting as long as gold.
An unclaimed heart
Always waiting for your golden eye
Pulling you closer to it
Tick tock tick tock
Do you want a golden heart?

smalls, a very interesting write. I felt a fair political genre to this piece. Please, feel free to tell me if I am wrong. But, on the opposite side of your poem, which I feel is tongue in cheek, it is not all about the gold, is it?

Sunshine, you caught onto what Gold symbolizes in our society yes and how a lot of us see it? Gold has its value because of the power we give it, but it is merely a type of metal. And so its worth has no foundation in life's essences, but only in a society we have learned to live in.

So do we really want our hearts to chase, to be something that doesn't really exist in our natural existence?
