Pretty Soon By: Noah Eaton 12/31/03 There's a woman feelin' scared tonight, shugging her shoulders, feelin' insecure She consecrates her bread and wine, but is there an answer, she's not so sure. Pretty soon she'll feel like Makin' an annulment She reads the bottom line like a shirttail The same old ending, another exaggeration But soon enough, they will come find you There's a woman feelin' confused right now, she feels cut right to the bone. But when you feel there's no one around, strangers are just family you have yet to know Pretty soon she might be Leaving everything behind And she forgets through her anxiety There's no regret in making a sacrifice But soon enough, they will come find you What are we really waiting for, long after we pay the stipend? When you stare up at the sky, does the earth around you feel like an island? Well pretty soon, they'll come find you It's like a forgotten heirloom, or a crescent moon, when you take hold of something, but it leaves a little too soon From the inside looking out, everyone pretends they know about what you see beyond the shadow of doubt, but somehow nothing has evened out. There's a woman feelin' vulnerable, to all these voices and illusions haunting her, She wears a forged smile from some ice cream social, cause she's afraid once more gettin' hurt Pretty soon she'll be at her knees Bleeding as she's praying And she'll try to understand, what they're preaching, that homily And soon enough. they will come find you What are we really looking for, when we stare up at the stars? When you look way too far, do you forget where you are? Well pretty soon, they'll come find you. Pretty soon, they'll come find you... "You'll find something that's enough to keep you But if the bright lights don't receive you You should turn yourself around and come back home" MB20 |

Noah...I'm at a loss for words right now. Give me some time to digest this... I'm sure I'll find something. For now, thank you will have to suffice. |

Hey Noah -- a wholesome new year to you! This was a welcome read -- the first in quite a while for me since I haven't been here for some time... You had a lot of lines here that stood out for me like: But when you feel there's no one around, strangers are just family you have yet to know and: When you stare up at the sky, does the earth around you feel like an island? and: It's like a forgotten heirloom, or a crescent moon, when you take hold of something, but it leaves a little too soon From the inside looking out, everyone pretends they know about what you see beyond the shadow of doubt, but somehow nothing has evened out. It's good to be back and this is a very strong offering! -MVS You CAN make a difference: |

This was so wonderful! thank you so much for the read! I was trying to pick a favorite line and I just couldn't there were to many that were just amazing. Beautifully done. ~Live and Laugh~ Because of you I laugh a little harder, smile a little more, and cry a little less |

What are we really looking for, when we stare up at the stars? When you look way too far, do you forget where you are? Well pretty soon, they'll come find you. Pretty soon, they'll come find you... Noah, it is so good to see you back!! This is a beautiful poem you have gifted to us. This ending really topped it all off. Thanks for sharing with us, my friend. Hugs Ethel |

For some reason, this immediately made me think of and have sympathy for Brittney Spears (hope I spelled her name correctly); also, it definitely had the feel of being a song. |
