Heart grieving whimper
dreams rusted out years ago
acidity of age distortion
weathered skin of abrasion
acid reflux paining survival
storming drought of feelings
suicidal living for anything
miracle existence of survival.

Instincts sharpened claws
mind’s razor knowledge
keenly sharpened intuition
will of inner faith
praying inside total silence
watering hole of emotions
shared in realities darkness
secluded deserted cactus,

Improbable odds
death watch of time’s shadows
sands draining the landscape
blown free upon hot dry air
roots surviving in deep sorrow
escaping hope of decades
prune still sweet inside
hiding fossilized relic.

Drum rolls thundering pain
lightning strikes of resuscitation
nature inhaling into you
pumping and recycling hope
rainfall downpour of eons
flooding open the gates of hell
bringing torrents of understanding
merging your saline tears.

The battle of the Constitution survives in the pain of struggling against conforming to silence. 1/5/04
