Snowfalls I have known.

They seemed so high so long ago
When I was just a lad
The banks that filled my yard with snow
were built there by my dad.

From out of bed to dark of night
I’d fly my favorite sled.
I’d run and slide with wild delight
Until my face was red.

Then came the years to make some dough
with shovel in my hand.
My back would burn from sodden snow
I flung across the land.

As years have passed, I’ve seen it fall
from Maine to Mexico.
No flake I’ve loathed, I’ve loved them all
Each storm that I’ve seen blow.

So here I sit at window’s side
with whiteness all around.
I’m dry and warm where I abide
I’ve kinda gone to ground.

Roads and schools are closed, you know
In Portland town today.
And Mama Nature runs the show,
I think she’s here to stay.

I like to feel the timelessness
that weather lets us see.
And as for you, I’d like to guess
You love snow just like me.

Oh, please send some more our way, Ken!  What snow we had melted, and all we've got now are terribly frigid degrees!

Ken, you and Nancy Lee sure are making me want
to see some snow!! Ya'll make it sound so beautiful!!
Maybe one day it'll snow here in Florida and
not melt so fast as before. I want to build a snowman!!
Hugs
Ethel

Ah! Someone to make snow angels with!  Pleeeease!
You know how I love the snow...
and Portland..?  My sister can tell you how we love Portland!
Now..is there a skating rink in the town square?
Not to worry...I'll explain it all to you sometime soon.
In the meantime...shall I throw another log on the fire?
~Warm smiles & cosy hugs, Nancy~

I've had some notes from you above
who've posted here to praise.
You want some snow, I pity you
Please give me old sun's rays.
But still and all, I'm here to say
I'm glad you happened by.
I love to pen these words that rhyme
And you're the reason why.

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Very nicely done kayjay. My sister Enchantress is a little confused. Portland is not where the skating rink is located sister dear. That's where I bought my umm....unmentionables...hee hee. Spirit Cove had the rink. Oh, kayjay, this write has brought back some wonderful memories.....but my sister's memory is not what it used to be.    This one is going into my library! hugs, Chris
