in the shadows

The message came at Noon today;
they told me you were dead.
I'd always thought outliving you
would liberate me,
instead I find the binding tighter.
Perhaps it's primate grief
some quaint old fashioned chemistry,
a Hominid reaction
to knowing of the dead
ignoring the release.
I'll never know the where or how,
or what you'd lately been about;
they simply said time had run out,
but that blade cuts two ways.
Tomorrow I will think some more
I pace myself these days.

Icy~

I know exactly what you mean.

then you won't see the best that I would love to do for you"

I loved the title you chose for this~

without death , how can we appreciate life~

I once watched a movie where one person wanted to live forever and they got their wish...but it was a curse instead of a blessing...they lived while watching the one and ones they love die~

~hugs to you

I've recently come to know that death isn't the end - we merely perceive it to be so. How much harder to watch those left behind take so many wrong turns and have so many wrong thoughts than for us to merely feel sad at their passing and miss them for what in the grand scheme of things must be a short time.  Yes, I often tell myself that tomorrow is time enough to think but then there are other things to think about.  At the end just one big jumble of thoughts with no conclusion.

Sir, you have addressed the most difficult situation.  It's about forgiveness isn't it?  As always, your words are wise and gifts to us.
