If I Could Know Your Name

               We return to the beginning
               with a new notebook
for words to be carved from rough blocks
               even of ice
We recall some success, or bet we can
as we feel the comfort of old tools
               that trace yet another pattern

               Let us guide each other
               from page to page
following pens while still they move
               and search for ourselves again
in the fading ink of imagined voices
               we’ve never heard

               A power has been renewed
               and a filament glows

Let us guide each other

Wonderfully expressed....for is it not this that draws us to read the wonderful words of others....let them be a guide and inspiration to us all...

Hi Krawdad.  I loved your poem!  Particularly touching to me:

Let us guide each other
from page to page
following pens while still they move
and search for ourselves again

We see ourselves in the words of others and we learn so much about ourselves, and we learn we are not alone and our feelings are validated...

Did I mention how much I love this?  I did?  Well, it bears repeating!

K-dad
Does this poem describe an attempt at making up after a breaking up of a relationship?

"We return to the beginning
with a new notebook"

"we feel the comfort of old tools
that trace yet another pattern"

And perhaps a hint in the last stanza that the renewal is already in the works and is working?

  "A power has been renewed
  and a filament glows"

Even if I am way off, I enjoyed reading this poem....:-)

Hey, thank you all for stopping by.
I appreciate your comments.
I suppose this is my New Year transition poem, with a little cold and a little light.

And Ice, that's an interesting interpretation, though I did not have that in mind.  Then again, the hand, the pen, and the paper is a relationship.  Sometimes it breaks up, sometimes it makes up.

I am very glad someone brought this back to the top, because I missed it.

And what happened to your picture??
