a book of matches lay on the table three spent two bent candles having wept their ooze banked in a pool of booze the fireplace full of ash and dying embers fading promises one match had chosen to give warmth two had furnished a lovely glow of light but that night it was not enough a ring lay encapsulated within the wax long stemmed glasses lay in the tracks of red within the shores of paraffin a crumpled bit of linen lay in a heap on the floor another on the nightstand by the door brokenness echoed through the halls dripping pain about the walls morose shadows began to fade into the darkness closure What’s so good about closure?@!@! ©January 3, 2004 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Oh my gosh....the pain of this poem tears at the soul and leaves...not closure but a feeling of tremendous loss... |

Virginia, this river runs very deep....and the swirl of it catches the reader, pulling them toward the seas where hope or desolation float...Here, take this raft and get out there, paddle around, enjoy the rays....listen to the gulls...and dream... |
