steady diet of scrambled eggs, cigarettes and sorrow
rains today as it did yesterday and will tomorrow
the dirge of days the same
Wears me beyond words.
buried deep inside me is a knife
Its pain such that
every breath a breath of water
every passing moment a moment less in existence captivity

all my life I have looked inside
admiring the warmth therein
yet never understanding it, distant as heaven

let me sleep ten thousand years before you wake me
in the rapture of the deep I'll be
closer to the sky than you'll ever know

misanthropology,

Welcome to Passions!  You really know how to put an image out there!  Although sad, I loved your poem.  The first two lines pulled me in at once.

One of the best descriptive verses I've read in a long time.  Enjoyed...

welcome to passions!
this is beautiful. i love your melancholic thoughts.

turning mirrors upside down won't make dust fall off the ground, hiding wounds won't ease the pain, sleep won't make you whole again...

Good first post. Sad but good. It's too bad people have to suffer to make beauty like this.

Loved the images of sorrow and the reference to the sea being closer to the sky. Welcome to Passions. Sit back, relax...I hope you stay awhile.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
