We just prepped a cheesecake sublime,
tucked into the oven on time,
and now I sit stalking a rhyme,
wondering why
this art of poetry tears at me
while I'm awaiting the chime.

The treat's for an upcoming dinner,
done lightly so's to be a sure winner,
imagine, me a hell raising old sinner,
teaching precisely
the patience of my kitchen's artistry
to a sullen but willing beginner.

great mood bringing forth lots of memories in the kitchen. I loved the stalking part and have found that "a watched poet never boils" is just not the case!

One thing you do know, is that the "sullen" will be gone when she remembers it.... 20 years from now it'll be "us, making Thanksgiving dinner together," and nothing but happy.

I like the rhyme, and I like the subject. It sounds like fun. I remember when my youngest boy and I made a Bayou Goo together. We didn't get it quite right, but it tasted fine.
