Soft downy feathers hiding within the nest. The small mother sparrow seems to know best how to protect her offspring. But no one can save the child who will not listen or obey. And so there are some who will perish in spite of a mother’s sheltered cherish. Sometimes the offspring will jump from the ledge before they are mature, ready to fledge. And usually the parent is blamed for not seeing their child’s mind was enflamed. But those who point fingers, chastise and accuse, have not walked an inch in that pair of shoes. The pain and regret they will never forget, but time will reveal the heart can heal, if those that surround them can feel and offer real understanding instead of demanding explanations and answers no one can give. My other and I finished hand feeding black masked who kicked them out of the next. Jean will be taking over on another chick after 3 weeks - they are plucking it bare. It is more sad for us that we will lose some lovebirds that have been with us for 10 more years. I cant even now talk about a Blue and Gold we lost. He shouldn't have lived and I was even injecting him into the chest in the end and stayed with him, whilst he went. Dave |

So sorry, Dave! Life can really be a nasty witch. I've bottle and spoon fed more critters than I care to remember, and sometimes they bit me! |

Its a great poem on the outside, but i think its true beauty is on the inside. Is there a hidden meaning within this poem? |

thank you for asking (and it's nice to meet you, Everuss) it's about the loss of a child, and the pain the parent endures daily from "sideways glances" received from people who callously assume they know the truth of the story [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (12-31-2003 01:15 AM).] |

Kacy loved your poem and your comment as well. It reminded me of the story my son often tells me of the kid who let the bee out of the jar and it stung him. Great job on this one. Hey! It's snowing big time here by the way, so I am so excited I can't go to sleep. A Very Happy New Year To You and Yours! |
