I struggle, my lips parched, my hands dry...
My eyes filled with welling brine...
For days I have sought a passage, a mere
compose and I fail again...

You were there...there beyond the moon
of my night.  And now I lean into the
winds of silence, digging into the sands
of shifting thoughts,  hoping to find a
treasure....as pebbles sift my hands and
I cry into the howl of night, calling,
ever calling...

When you turned away, that chilled
eve....why did you not just say, just
bend gently into my ear and whisper
again to me....that I might find that
which escapes me....

I search, standing at the shore, the
lap awakening my senses... a lantern’s
light shines blindly...

Calling again as silence smothers me into
the darkness from whence I came. Hearing
not the echo of your hello.

Come, that I may turn the other cheek and
feel the sting of you, that I may break the
chain that binds me....and once again....be free.

Magnus
A hauntingly good write..
I am trying to figure out if it is a good thing for you to keep calling out in the dark for this person...It seems like you are needing to face, and turn your cheek to an enemy, perhaps you should leave what is, alone, or is it that you have made a bad mistake and need to take punishment for it in order to close the issue? Don't mind me, I just dig deep into poems and sometimes see things that are not in them....anyway, I enjoyed reading this poem, thanks for posting it.

Thanx Ice...the person is my muse.  "She",
if you will...has abandoned me for most of
the past two weeks or so...perhaps more.

Simply this....if she cannot produce and
help me produce...then begone with her!!

Was this the muse -- or you?  If it was you, perhaps you need no muse!  lol........jo

Now Mag, I knew of what you spoke from the very first line of this one...as you know, my pen has been parched for quite some time. I finally had a decent breakthrough after admitting my "block" referred to as a "myth of mind" by my darling mentor without whom my bic wouldn't have clicked on that one either.  As far as female muses, let me assure you, dear man, the male ones are just as mule-headed...and the non-gender variety, perhaps even worse.

This is exceptional work, Barry...so near and dear to my heart.  I must follow Enchantress and put this one in my library as well.

A non-gender muse?  Hmmmmmm,  perhaps a
test run might be in order.... Thank you
Patricia...
