The continuing renderings about Weobaei, a word who morphs into different people or creations -- Weobaei wove a basket in the Garden of the Reeds beside the River. She chose the ones whose time was spent and cut them tenderly. Gathering them up in a shouldered cloth, she scurried to her favorite tree. There she sat and wove a cradle, a sure strong vessel of sanctity. The River only flowed one way and the sun did not shine much that day. The male child would die because of the throne. So Weobaei placed him there alone in the vessel she had woven. She set the child afloat. She wept as she watched him through tall reeds. She wept, and she hoped as the River ran free. Iliana |

How she must have feared he would be harmed, but she felt he was escaping an even bigger threat....what a heartache for a mother. Terri~ Well I will go down with this ship |

iliana In this poem Weobaei seems to morph into the mother of Moses...I like the way this poem unfolds, the language and image of the tangibles of the scene, and the stirring of invisible emotions....enjoyed ______ice ><> |

Ice - you are correct. That is the story behind this. I wrote this poem when my daughter went to college -- you know "empty nest sydrome outlet." Thanks for your comments. Sadie -- read my comment to ice; you will understand completely, then again, you are going through the same so maybe you already do. Midnitesun -- why thank you dear one. Thanks for reading it. Ratleader -- yes, maybe. Weobai, as you read earlier, was the bird song. I have a couple of others and have concepts for more. I'll post them as time goes on. Thanks for following. Sey, as always, gracious! [This message has been edited by iliana (12-20-2003 02:26 PM).] |

Within the mystery of a name rests a poetess capable of weaving such wondrous creations for us to ponder and think about. Thanx, I too thought of Moses, but I understand the nest issue well. |

JamesMichael -- Thanks so much! Magnus -- What a nice thing to say about a name. Yes, it is difficult letting go, isn't it. Thank you for reading the piece. Hope to have a few more coming. lol |

Margherita -- the river --- someone should do a poem about "the river" and all the different things it can mean -- that would be a good topic. ANYONE READING THIS, I CHALLENGE YOU TO A WRITE ABOUT "THE RIVER." Thanks, Margherita, for your very kind words. |
