She appeared suddenly from a lonely river somewhere out of a faceless stream She was travelled sage and street wisdom her eyes lacking mercy's gleam Over cobblestones of time she sought peace taking roads to places where direction hides and where silky satin gowns once full flowed in reflections of a happy time She was borrowed time passing the elusive song of sadness hidden in a gentle rain the reason why the blues happen in the heartaches of yesterday She landed softly on my cushioned eyesight a lost angel searching for my kind regards She stood tall beside my garden wall with a soul that reached far beyond her heart Through the strains of yesteryear she bent my mind And in her laugh of question she surfed insight waves while she exposed her thoughts of a space afar since her visions had turned to mad decay. She spoke of tender love and children fair of bedtime stories and Dr Seuss when she heard her young son's laugh and daughter's sigh and shared passion with her man and taught the golden rule She'd been wandering since a fire in 83 looking for answers to the rising of a blue moon where her dreams were consumed in a cruel storm and when her heart closed all it's rooms. She was borrowed time passing the elusive song of sadness hidden in a gentle rain the reason why the blues happen in the heartaches of yesterday She left me in a state of worried wonder an empty place where questions still remain and I can't help but wish her a tender closing everytime I hear her voice in a gentle rain. Somewhere upon a mountain of forgiveness there's a truth I can't seem to uncover from the comfort of my easy chair knowing her heart was lost to crushing pain I think humbled thoughts much more aware She was borrowed time passing the elusive song of sadness hidden in a gentle rain the reason why the blues happen in the heartaches of yesterday The best teachers have the biggest ears [This message has been edited by ethome (10-04-2003 07:23 AM).] |
