an original poem by Grandpa Joe for my Aurea Marrie, 12-18-2002 “Grandpa, how are clouds made?” I explain in my feeble way... humidity, condensation, the FM principle Freaking Magic, thanks grandma JoAnn And she responds, “Yeah, but how are they made?” Uh, and a little later she queries... “Where does the wind come from, the sun and moon breathing?” I laugh and answer “yes.” We go for walks on almost all of my visits It is... ritual, pleasure, exercise, bonding, being, love in action, awe inspiring time to know... freedom, safety, pleasure, love, joy, sights and sounds, weather, neighbors passing, carefully., seeing grand-daughter and grandpa holding hands and walking on the side of the rural Montana dirt road, which comes off of another rural Montana dirt road and accesses another rural Montana, newly paved road, which accesses the state highway We walk the hill where I gave her the freedom to ride her bicycle downhill this past summer Me, running alongside, with hand on shoulder as Aurea Marrie, Love Ninja, Golden Child, Daughter of the Morning, Shining Star and an inspiration everyday begins her maiden downhill run, sans training wheels, but appropriately socially acceptably helmeted I run beside her to give her a sense of safety and help her grow her confidence and gain her childlike independence With-in one hundred feet she says “Okay, grandpa, you can let me go.” and I do, though I never will She is a miracle in motion Grandpa’s Love Ninja Peace, Joe |
