sittin' by the pond at my buddies cattle ranch in little ol' Forsyth, MT, I was reminded of a night being stranded in North Dakota. It was eleven below zero, and if it weren't for my blizzard suit, I'da been a Mexican popsicle. At one point I was so cold that I welcomed death. But no, as my luck would have it, I had to survive. And good thing too, cuz I woulda missed one of my grand kids being born. Super sour lemon head burst of sunshine in the dusty azure sky. Stubbly golden fields Honkers... Here and there and there and there A chilly breeze reminds the ears of a frostbitten North Dakota night So luminous of moon and snow Death seemed so warm at 11 below. Peace, Joe |
