The Life Of The Bullfrog and I Today was overcast with clouds of white- The azure blue sky now a cool pearl gray. The water a chilling gray and the wind warm and soothing to a person who is the child of sea. Drawn to the waters edge like a butterfly in flight, I sit and contemplate the wonders of life. As I sit and dream of days gone by a little ole bullfrog comes a hopping over and sits down beside me. As he sits and looks out to the rolling sea he says in his mild manner- “ Sure is beautiful ain’t it? Been a comin’ here all of my life. Seen folks come and seen folks go. My children have played here and some of my children have died a learnin’ to swim. My wife had our first born on these restless shores. The wind was a blowin’ and rain was a pourin’. Our home was a floodin’ that night, in fact you’re a sittin’ in the livin’ room, but that’s okay, cause it caved in on that stormy night many lifetimes ago. Wife don’t like it here says she still hears the baby a cryin’, but I figure it just the wind singin’ a mournful song of sadness for all who have lost their lives on these ole muddy waters. Well, got to be a goin’, wife is a gettin’ supper ready don’t want to be late. Been nice to be a talkin’ with you.” As I gaze upon the water tears roll down my dampened face. Been a coming here all my life in times of strife and sorrow. Come here just to relax and watch the sun bounce off the white caps like glistening lights of clear crystal diamonds. Stood high above the crashing reefs and threw my babies ashes into the swirling wind. I swear when I come here in the middle of the night, I hear my baby cry a wanting to be held in his dear sweet mama loving arms once again. As I stand and smell the salty air, I close my eyes and see my lovely wife standing there. A tender smile on her delicate lips, she waves her final goodbye, as I pour her ashes into the warm summer wind. I marvel how much the bullfrog and I have in common. Life is a wonder filled with joy and sadness and strange filled days of mystery. I look about and a feeling of puzzlement I do feel. Was I listening to an ole bullfrog telling me of his life or was I listening to my pain filled heart that is crying out in misery? Well I have to be getting on home to comfort my saddened family for the lose of their friend and mother. Good night you ole bullfrog wherever you are good night. Love Bon-Bon |

Bonnie...A very good story, humor and saddness all rolled into one. I hope the sad part is fictional thou. Everybody knows bullfrogs don't talk, or do they?. Thanks for sharing...Paul "To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you" |

I love the way you draw a story together and make it real. Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |
