Callous serf in empress clothing Keep watch, her fangs are showing Rubies and sapphire all glisten and glitter Alas, she’s painted gold A comedy of errors subvert her grace No sign present on the etched face Claws of paper yet strength of a mace A supine countenance hides a fervent pace Beware of that which she shines As though it appears bright and true Alas, she’s painted gold. |
