Little books made up my room, while comic books were a staple in a particular room of that little stucco house but it was the thick books that little fingers, mine, coveted, and there were never enough of them. I do not remember learning in school how to read, it seemed I knew it beforehand and was ready set go in those first days. Mother had whispered they’ll have more books and I don’t recall being afraid to be away from her full skirts, because she said there would be cookies and milk when I got home and she was almost always able to keep most of her promises. Then, the smiling face of a lovely woman, when I was grown up at four, and now in first grade, put a pencil in my hand, the wood had a feel I knew from daddy’s hand, the graphite held a promise that was, as yet, undefined, but it was age seven when I knew two realizations. I wanted to write. I was too young. At seven, I knew I needed [that oh so big word] experience. I’m ready, now. |

OH yes.... Yes, you certainly are... you can make an old man sign, sometimes laugh, often cry. Bring to heart a wondrous feel, make his head swim and senses reel. Take him to a lover's ball, make him feel he's got it all. Give to all that you can give, let them revel, let them live. Want more? |

(big hugggsssssss) And look at how far you've come...not only are you a poet, but a sunshine of one! (smiles) Dreams can come true if you set your heart to them and you're living, dreaming and painting proof of that, God Bless You, it is wonderful to hear of your colorful history, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth |

Karilea... We, you and I, were at the opposite ends of the spectrum. So much so, it is almost amazing how we ended up in the same place. I can see you with red galoshes and rain coat (like the Morton's salt girl) and me running the streets, bare-armed and barefoot in a thunderstorm. What would we have made of each other? You know I love these tales of childhood...and you may have just inspired me yet again! I love this so much... A giant kid hug to you! Patricia |
