**my sister called me a few days ago to tell me that my Dad had been suffering for a couple weeks from severe headaches. He finally went to the hospital after my stepmom basically forced him to. They thought he had an anurism (sp) but after the catscan results came back, found out it's only from stress. He is ok, left for Florida on vacation yesterday and says he is fine. My dad is the type of man who never stops. His blood pressure is very high and he's been warned many times to take it easy, but he never will. My Mom was the same way and she passed away from a heart attack back in 1994. I don't know what to do to make him see that he could end up ending his life if he doesn't stop. I don't want to lose him. I love him very much. Anyway this poem is because of this situation. Thanks to all who may read** I got such a scare today, when Lisa called me on the phone She said your trip you hadn't taken, that due to your headaches you were instead at home I said what headaches, for I was clueless, no one wants to worry me She said Dad's not been feeling too well for a while now, the doctors say he needs to be stress-free She goes on to explain that you had a catscan, why hadn't I heard this from you? I know you don't like to worry me, but hearing it like this creates a lot more worrying to go through She said you went to the hospital, but they say you will be okay I sigh a thanks of relief, but wonder are you safe only for today? You do so much for everyone Dad, you take on everyone's problems, each and everyday I just wish you'd learn to rest, you deserve that now, I want you around always Life passes by so quickly, one minute someone is here, the next they are gone in the blink of an eye I'm not ready though, to tell you goodbye I love you, you know how I feel about you, we've been through so much After Mom's death and so many times since, you've been my rock, but also that much needed loving touch Tears well up in my eyes, and a lump forms in my throat, the words just won't come out I want to tell you though to please stop, but a whisper is barely heard, what was suppose to be a shout Your days here aren't done, they just need to slow down some It's time to take your trips to Florida, and for you to enjoy and have some fun I will always need you, we all will But we wan't you safe and healthy, can we form some kind of deal? Please don't scare me like this again, I don't think my heart can take the pain I want you around to see your grandbabies, and for them to learn to love you the same The same way that I do Dad, the same way everyone who knows you Just promise me this, and remember we're here for wherever you go, whatever you do I love you Daddy! "love is like a butterfly-- if you chase it, it will surely fly away, instead hold it close and watch it grow into something beautiful" ~me~ [This message has been edited by Aimster (09-27-2003 12:44 PM).] |

being a dad this touched me wonderfully. I didn't have one of note, but became one. I hope my kids write one like this to me. Thank you. Peace, and prayers for your father. Joe from the big MT |
