Turkey Surprise A Recipe for Mischief

I’m so very, very quiet andI’m very, very shy.
I’m very imaginative and very artistic.
I love being mischievous,
because no one looking into my innocent eyes
expects it.
It is a cold winter day, tis the season of Thanksgiving.
It is the season of gift giving to your loved ones
and to close friends
The snow is covering the ground in a blanket of white.
To an innocent eye no mischief can be found.
The turkey a golden brown, tender, a mouth watering delight.
A delicious smell fills the air of spicy dressing,
apple pie and mince.
The dinner complete we all sit down and talk of
past Thanksgivings and pray for family.
The cleaning of the table was my chore.
Father and Mother are out the door.
I think I’ll give mom a surprise, a gift will be her prize.
The turkey bones wrapped in pretty sparkling paper,
then again in a brown paper sack.
Now here comes the artistic touch.
Gently ease a stamp off an envelope-
Very gently take an ink pen and mark the postage-
It looks like it’s from the post office.
Then put it in the door
while it awaits its innocent victim, “Mother.”
The kitchin clean I greet my family.
My darling Mother sees the gift and smiles with delight.
Opening the gift, a look of surprise her eyes open wide.
“Who would do a mean thing like this?”
She turns to me and looks into my innocent eyes.
“You! You did this?”
She smiles and gives me a hug the house is filled with laughter.
Oh how I miss the days of giving someone a
“Turkey Surprise.”
