Once I loved a boy when I was young But he compared me to bubble gum I was so hurt that he did compare My kisses to something filled with air He meant it as an insult, for he’d moved on While I just wondered what went wrong I watched him kiss his new girlfriend And knew in my heart that was the end I listened as he compared her to a spicy treat Hot to hold and I was just “sweet” Years passed and we became friends again Laughing often of things that happened then And in the mail the other day I got a little surprise my way In a package tied with a bow Wouldn’t you somehow just know There were little squares wrapped inside And laughter that I couldn’t hide As I read the note that said “sweet’s more fun” And I popped in a piece of bubble gum! Let my words fall first upon deaf ears before a closed mind... |

What a delightfully refreshing sweet treat! Loved this playful write about love/lost/maybe regained? Lots of people prefer bubblegum to hot sauce. |
