it's easy to catch a falling star

ForeverandEverLand
is NeverNeverland
and the hearts of the Fatherland
are again chained in black
because no one wants
you to stay a happy child
when you are over 40
and are too rich and too famous,
and when every hug you give
is tainted with stinking dirt
according to the miniscule minds that
cannot seem to capture real bad guys

but why should they expend so much
effort and your tax money when
it's so much easier to grab
a bright shiny star,
even if the star has
a bit o' tarnish from past exposures?

Seventy men turned over shrubs and towels
pots and pans, sox and shoes
to search for the hidden speck of 'proof'
that Billy Jean's lover
had indeed done some dirty deeds.
Meanwhile, since most of
Santa Barbara's FORCE was busy
playing around at NeverNeverLand,
some really bad crime was happening
down in the cities,
as a woman was being abused
by her powerful wealthy husband,
an elderly vet was being abused
by the System because he would not conform
to each line of the 1,000 pages
of government rules and regs
that seem to regulate
only the victim these days.

Yes, it's easy to catch
a falling star.
