Power Moguls The power moguls come rolling into the sleepy innocent town. Speaking in silvered tongues and smiling with greasy handshakes. Saying nothing will change, believe in me, as they pour silver and gold into the greedy palms of trusted leaders. In a short period of time, they begin cutting with their mighty sword slashing, slicing deep into the hard working man, but as they rip out the heart of mankind they smile and say; “Nothing will change.” Years of hard work, years of education, hold no meaning to the all-powerful moguls. Young and old in tears racked with fear. Each year a new slicing, no one is safe from the power moguls. Love begins to cool in this town of innocence. Management once filled with compassion now handing out threats like sharp cutting stones saying, Do as I say or into the street I will cast. I will shatter your dreams in a moment, losing your livelihood is not my concern. When I say jump you better say, “How high.” Ten years later I look into angered eyes and the gentle souls of long ago no longer understand compassion or a friendly smile. The workers that are still hanging on wonder from day to day and say in nightly prayers, “Will I still have a job in the morning?” One day the power moguls will meet the one that is more powerful then they. They will lie down and weep for mercy and pray, “Will I have life in the morning?” Love Bon-Bon [This message has been edited by Bonnie j (11-21-2003 01:02 PM).] |
