How Will I Know?

How will I know when the moment has come
To relinquish that beautiful dream?
You will know when your eyes have not danced in the stars
And the stars have not bathed in a stream

How will I know when the season has come
To give in to the winds of the day?
You will know when the waters don’t dance in the sea
And your feet have not bathed in its spray

How will I know when the soul is too frail
To continue to grow and persist?
You will know when your feet have not danced in the grass
And the grass is not bathed in the mist

How will I know that my heart is too worn
To let love linger on through the years?
You will know when the stars have not danced in your eyes
And your eyes have not bathed in your tears

This reminds me of a song from long ago, Elizabeth...and will stay with me as long as that song has.

The answers, my friend... are written in your words.

Wow.. so well written.  I especially like that last stanza.  Very, Very impressive.  I love to read poetry but it never ceases to amaze me what people can do with words

I re-read this poem several times and marvelled at it's presentation and content.
A most compelling and thought-provoking write.

Here's how you know.... hold on to it until the end, and then just a little bit longer, until somebody up there explains to you that it's ok to let it go now.... then it's time.
