Currents lie twisted along her bed And Mark the call of depth greater than The bars of edge line past twain we breathe in sighs deep enough to pass but she pushes hard the hull and would sweep us down to Lady Orleans who lies supine in languished repose inviting all to come with few to truly leave Steady the hand Comes up this way a bend Where the Lily met her death ignoble As Captain swilled his rum And cotton on deck shifted in turn To leave her hulled on last springs snag Then to burn Compromised So speak to me softly dear With words drawn from this murky deep For too full I am to drink Too foolish am I to dream And would hear the voice of you Recount beauty To me the beast Come Spring She’ll change again And I may not sail her length But this season’s work’s begun And my mind still traces her curves Hoping none will find me calling clear “ Half Mark, Turn Slow, or we hull, keep her steady boys or down we go” Whisper again your words to me that I might remember them even if lost [This message has been edited by Cpat Hair (11-19-2003 09:24 AM).] |

I've been transported to Clemens' time, and slow the channel goes... Now. Do it again. |

"So speak to me softly dear With words drawn from this murky deep For too full I am to drink Too foolish am I to dream And would hear the voice of you Recount beauty To me the beast" This is the bit that speaks loudest to me, that says the most.... These were good to see m'friend |

#1 must read poem of the day! Bravo my friend. I love this. This is such an interesting read. It makes me want to read it again. Back to the top of the list this goes...and back to reareading it I go. Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history! |

Nancy.. thank you ma'am, hope you enjoyed. Sy.. thank you kind sir Sunshine.. perhaps not in Clemens time, perhaps timeless.. thank you ma'am Ice.. to think something I wrote struck a chord of some kind with you is an honor sir Ed.. that part is the center.. tied to the end with a lot of crap around it that tries to be of some importance, but in fact is probably not.. appreciate your eyes..and your picking out the heart of it... Evocative..LOL.. glad you enjoyed.. but doubt it would be classed as more than a weak effort.. you kind words are appreciated, thank you [This message has been edited by Cpat Hair (11-19-2003 10:24 AM).] |

Hi Ron ... how I long to be sitting on Nan's beach watching the water and the waves. Doesn't matter how cold or windy. A wonderfully, delightful write to go along with my tea this morning. Hugs and Smiles, Marti “Prayer makes the heart large enough until it can contain God’s gift of Himself.” |

This was a sensational read..Mr. Seaman...what a write...grabed hold of me and wouldn't let go, so I had to hit this verse with my purse, like the woman with the hair net on Laughin....whewwwww, thought I was a gonner! Seriously though, sensational! |

Midnight... lol.. you are far too kind and when I scratched the furniture to sharpen my claws, you'd change your mind.... New england... I've spent so little time near the sea or ocean I could not imagine living where I could actually go and visit, listen tot he sounds and see the world change as it does over water.. but I guess water is water..for me the rivers have always been a draw.. and I prefer the small ones.that live and change each season while remaining intimate intheir lessons.. thank you for the kind words..and for the read. Lee..lmao.. never had one of my offerings compared to something that needed to be beat off with a purse... but perhaps it is fitting. As for the sea, as I explained above, for me it is the stream and rivers.. but the draw and pull is much the same, just a quieter way to expereince the beauty and peace as well as the lessons of water.. thanks all.... your kind responses are greatly appreciated.. |

So speak to me softly dear With words drawn from this murky deep For too full I am to drink Too foolish am I to dream And would hear the voice of you Recount beauty To me the beast Come Spring She’ll change again And I may not sail her length But this season’s work’s begun And my mind still traces her curves Hoping none will find me calling clear “ Half Mark, Turn Slow, or we hull, keep her steady boys or down we go” Whisper again your words to me that I might remember them even if lost =========================== For every time I spoke to you of my love and need of being near water...and my new found love of the ocean...you have always said the river was where you were drawn... Once again the currents and bends become a muse that gifts you well.... this one rides up there high with some of your best..and thats a LONG list in my library. So when we going fishing..you bring the johnboat...I got the bait...we'll float down and pick un Sen...shes got the crawdads When I'm with you my eyes are so wide ... |
