~* Something To Be Said About Old Age *~

In my gratitude journal its so easy
To fill up each day, a whole page,
But today I wrote just two little words,
Those two words were simply, “old age!”

I’ve learned since I’ve gotten older
It doesn’t pay to ever look back.
I savor each and every experience
They help to keep me right on track.

I’ve learned about inner instincts,
Applying use of my common sense.
Problems seen from another angle
Can indeed change in consequence.

I’ve learned to have an open mind,
Acceptance of others became a goal.
I replaced ignorance with understanding
To see some good in every soul.

I’ve learned power can breed hatred,
And hatred leads us into war.
We end up fighting each other,
I wonder what on ever for?

I've learned nothing else really matters
Except family, faith, friends, and health.
Not even a part of this equation could
Be replaced by any amount of wealth.

The biggest thing I learned in life
Is so obvious for me now to see.
I finally can appreciate that,
Someone’s always worse off than me!

Try to make time to listen to
someone when they speak from their heart.

Carpe' Diem

Old age brings much wisdom... We need to listen to our elders... They've been there and done that... and have much to say... I like this, Sharon...

How beautiful! And I love that pensive, questionning look on her face.

Well now, you know I love this Sharon.

From the lovely da dums all the way down through the wisdom filled lines. There is much truth in this piece, and much to take heed and remind myself.

This was wonderful ... just wonderful!

Best wishes and big hugs,
/Kit

I had a dream last night
you came to me on silver wings of light
I flew away with you in painted sky
Was it real
Is it what you see, touch or feel

Sharon,
Your poetry always reflects the fact that you have lived, truly lived more than most. These are very powerful thoughts
