Ah...a new poem thing..This is a poem/story, a story told in the form of a poem. Hope you like... Part 1 He was just seventeen. He had no idea. But it was true. She was. A teen's worst nightmare. It's not known how it happened. But you can imagine. Yes you can. It happened, not quickly; he could be made fun of if it had; But it did happen. Stupid teenage lust and those raging hormones You can't ignore. It makes for a bad combination with alcohol. Not drugs. He was a good kid in that sense. He had a mind not to do them. And he also had a mind to protect himself. But protection can fail. Big time. And in this case, it did. The outcome, not so pretty or happy. There goes the scholarship. There goes the trust. There goes his life. Out the window in an instant. And he can't take it back. She won't get rid of it. He didn't want her to, either. It's immoral. She won't give it away, though it is an option. But that is a no-no. He can't have it lost forever. Even though it could find him. So keep it. That is that. No more questions. No more answers. Part 2 Now what to do? The day is here. It’s all come down to this. Screams of agony ricochet off the hospital walls. There is no turning back. Unwanted, unplanned, But tears fall for it. And smiles appear. It can't be all bad. Can it? Oh yes it can. He doesn't love her. It just can't work. But for Dominick's sake it has to. It just does. They brought him here; they have to keep it together. Be a family. Be happy. Find a way to get a decent income. Washing dishes doesn't cover diapers, formula or clothing. It covers car insurance and some food. She can't go anywhere. Dishwashing income doesn't pay for a sitter, too. But that is the life. One mistake, one night. It happens. See? Haven't you always been told? Even if you had a shield. You can be hit hard. Don’t think you can't. It's harder for him since he doesn’t love her. It was only one night. Why? Why did it have to be this way? But here Dominick is. Looks like his father. There is no denying it. He thinks she is in love with him. She doesn't love him either. But he doesn’t know. And now, she is gone. Part 3 She is gone. Yes, yes it's true. How can he do this on his own? He’s so young, so naïve to responsibility. Where did she run? Why did she run? She is older than he is. She knows more. But life throws you curves you don't ask for. And this is one that goes 100 miles an hour. It hits so hard and it comes so suddenly, He doesn’t know what to do. He's alone in this world with work and school and Dominick. He’s confused. How can he take care of such a little life and his own? Six months of a life. How can it be handled? The crying? The cradle cap? No sleep? It is possible? It's going to have to be because life throws curves. And you can’t change it. Part 4 So what is a boy to do in this situation, anyway? Who knows, he’s new and inexperienced. He has never had to take care of anyone like this before. How can he do it alone? His parents are supportive, that's a start. But what about his finances? At least she's gone now. One less person to feed. "The green of your eyes |

very sad...but as in your signature many are young and foolish. One has to make the best of it. M |
