I wake up, to another wasted day
Somehow the hours just slip away
I think it's Tuesday, but I don't know
I want to leave, but have nowhere to go
I've tried so hard to ease my mind
Just don't have the energy, or the time
The dreams I had, seem so far away
Scarcely recall the happiness of yesterday
My goals were all close enough to touch
How did I get off track so much?
Meaningless jobs, endless days, and sleepless nights
Have become the routine of my joyless life
But on this day I came to see the light
Finally Knowing how to make it right
Through the lies, I see truth at last
Live for the future, not stuck in the past
Things that have happened were beyond my control
So today is the day I finally let go
Tonight I will sleep like I haven't in years
Without the weight of all my fears
Life may never turn out like I had planned
For whatever reasons, I will never understand
But I'll look forward to every minute anyway
Because I'd hate my life to end on another wasted day

I know wasted days and self-recrimination... and remember the exact moment my such "today" began... and what a difference it's made to my life...

I like this very much... and wish you luck!

I'm so glad you like it! I origanally wrote it for my roommate but now it feels like I wrote it about myself.

Beckers716,

This is the first poem of yours that I have had the opportunity to read. It is full of so many great lines, insights and truths that I could not pick out just one. I have come to believe that life just is and that to find any meaning, we must make life meaningfull. Yes, I don't think you're alone dear one. We all will continue to question now and then. Perhaps it's a way of keeping us in check and reminding us that we make the choices.

Wishing you great joy!
SG
