Wishing On A Northern Star

0 posted 2003-11-16 02:27 AM

Part One

Night's curtains parted easily
then we slid deftly between
thin veils of light.
The wind gave us wave songs
as a favor to the soft step of love.
You held my hands out with yours
and I felt as if we were holding the ocean by its corners
spreading it in front of us like a picnic blanket.
I discovered that the wind
startled at the caress of our hands.

Part Two

Our discovery was moment by moment
and on our picnic blanket ocean
we dined heavily on hope.
We walked on sand
that scattered at our feet
and it seemed as if each grain parted,
politely curtsying before the air of us.
I remember no words
and the only way our mouths moved
was to speak in a whispered lip language
against one another.
We were delicate
and I found that our arms smiled back at one another
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Part Three
We had pulled the sunset into our hearts
with the grip of eyes
and we used that glow to light a path of sight
across waters that rustled to peaks
at a mere touch of wind.
There we found that our smiling arms
had gentle passionate teeth.
Those teeth pulled softly and firmly
on walking wills
pressing them close together.
We were firmly planted in a place
where we could make every moment a memory.
We built with calm abandon
and slow steady sighs.
"You put a stain on all of my good days."
I loved all of it, but this part, in
particular, really spoke to me.....
We had pulled the sunset into our hearts
with the grip of eyes
and we used that glow to light a path of sight
across waters that rustled to peaks
at a mere touch of wind.
Absolutely beautiful, this is.
Ethel
