Rainy Days

Feelings buried, chained,
hidden in the darkened recesses of my mind.
Not aloud to surface
because these memories bring searing pain
and tear drops of heartache.
Cleaning dusty closets,
finding music of the past.
This music made in a time of heart filled
love and passion.
The tape labeled, Are You Happy Now?
Should I play or bury this beauty until another day?
Looking out at the rainy day,
the words come drifting across the
dimly lit room,
dancing lightly like wings of a delicate butterfly.
Words like..........”I’ve got pieces of April, I keep them in a memory
bouquet, I’ve got pieces of April,
but it’s a morning in May.”
Another tune comes along and I think-
Maybe he should have listened to the music of Tina when she said,
“You better be good to me.”
Then a melody comes swinging into the room
and
my feet begin to dance.
The words pounding to the steady rhythm of the drums and cow bell,
telling of the “Family of Man.”
As the rain sings her melancholy song,
I smile and dance about the room.
Sorrow once again buried and chained in the dark recesses of my mind.
Until another day-
When a deep ache breaks the chains and surfaces once again
and
listens to the mournful cry of the rain from yesterday.

Love
