There are times we ask why.

Like the old yellow dog that sniffs at base of oak
Then turns to return to a softer bed
Than old leaves now brittle
I find I am softer.

Winter cold brings more ache
And I am reminded by the silence
Brought on by fallen leaves
That alone does not mean atoned
Nor do the passing years
Add up to wisdom

Perhaps it is time
In that asking
For me to answer more

Than just
The Odysseun
“I got lost after the war”

I am not the yellow dog after all
But have spent much time
Simply being
A cur

Weather you know it or not, you wrote that one for me....not meaning it as an insult, but good advice...

This entire poem, reached out to me in many ways...it is very soundly written with a degree of comradeship...a ship with much meaning, compassed with an invisible hand of great direction...

Bravo...and hello, and good Morning

hmmm..Actually I see a few different writers that this could be.  I think that anything you write is fantabulous, no matter who you are at the moment, but your style is uniquely you own!

Hey Bud!
Thanks for playing, hope it was fun for ya.

Now, to your costume. Good lord, what you write, I always empathize with. So I can't help but see ME in this. But? I also see a bunch of our friend icebox here (as well as a helping of Cpat)It's that ummm "generational" flavor that we three have in common.

I'll just say that if you have tried on my jeans, I am most flattered. And if not, I still see "me" reflected here.

Ed.. was your jeans I tried to put on... and poorly I fear... but I have always enjoyed your words and related to them..
as for the Icebox influence..lol.. yeah it is in there too... or supposed to be....

hope it was not too big an insult sir... for it is indeed a poor reflection of your own style...

~ Captain, the above lines are especially memorable.

You have a whole lotta talent under your hat!

You captured those things that I try to convey...all of them.

Capt. Ron, like some up there I thought you were doing yourself at first...then the more I got into it, it  DID  look like you were wearing Ed's jeans....then with the last verse, you were clearly clothed with Ed....
Yep, you look good in Ed's jeans.....LOL
