Nothing is free...
except

the gentle breeze heard
    whispering in yonder trees,
the soft salty kiss of an ocean breeze,
    nightengale's song in yonder dale,
swaying green grasses on nearby hills,
    being kissed in a misty morning veil,
the spirit of the chickadee,
    song of the sparrow,
blue skies through Vincent's eyes,
    a solitary walk in the woods
on a frozen arctic night.

No, nothing is free...
except,

the accidental touch
    of two lovers knees
as they sit arm-in-arm entwined,
    as branches sit
snuggled in closely planted trees,
    underneath the gazing winking moon
in fullest bloom of June.

No, nothing is free...
except
the things I need.

But what price would I
be willing to pay,
if I had to assign these gifts
a fair market price today?

I cannot honestly say,
since all I really need or want
seems to be free.
