In the Moment

Tucked ‘neath arched branches of late summer green,
Nestled hidden ‘tween autumn’s hues unseen.
‘Prisoned not by swelter of summer still
But in search of ‘morrow’s restless until.

In this moment, a swell sans ceded sigh,
As thoughts travail in chains of by and by.
Of prophecy willed by prisoner’s plea-
Summer’s shadow once cast shall set me free.

Yet, no freedom found with pendulum’s sway
As summer slumbers where Autumn now lay.
And shades I thought would be flaunted anew
Remain pale and mute in my autumn view.

For ‘twas not season that held prison’s key,
But moments not lived when moments must be.
