DOWN, DOWN, DOWN Going round and round, down, down, down, deeper, and deeper, into the ground the root of life descends again to move and shuffle all the rules. Not this way - that, where is the map, and off I go to find the gold without a knapsack on my back. I thirst and hunger, long and pine, and wish the journey not so long, but then again the moon smiles down and stars glitter in a brand new sky. How mysterious the view I see like when I’m dreaming just of you but when the sun beats down to land I know my hands aren’t made for two and still must juggle them and they. It’s off to school I go to learn how still to love but not to yearn but sleep, my refuge from the grief, evades my brain like moonbeams play beyond the length and breadth of me and so I flip through pages fast. Flip! Flip! I guess I missed a part and that must be the depth of heart wherein resides the all there is but it’s hard to grasp a moving part that wiggles, jiggles, like a fool on the stage of my short-sighted view. Dusty now my books grown old for time has passed since then and when I thought I was a child again to learn and hold the essence, love, above my head as my saviour. Still lie my arms close to my side for the weight they carried then and when has left an ache no one can mend but beneath a brand new sky leaves flutter on the trees, and move, and change, and grow again, while roots dig deeper down! I can so relate to this. There is something to be said for knowing the score before you play the game. I think this realization hits you hard as you age. Perhaps we grow too weary to grasp that wiggling, jiggling moving part. Excellent write! Patricia |

hi Helen "It’s off to school I go to learn how still to love but not to yearn" To know what you need to learn, is one of the biggest parts of the lesson. Thank you for this Sunday Story. |

Helen, I enjoyed this reading very much. Thank you for sharing it. Someday, I hope I can hear you recite this. I have a feeling your voice will bring the bounce that I read within to life. |

Thank you all so much for reading and for commenting. I once did read a piece of mine to a full church congregation but the thing that seemed to move them the most was my son coming forward to help me off the stage and give me a kiss... and I sure needed that! How strange it was to hear only my voice amongst so many people but it was an experience I won't forget. |
