I was singing to myself an old western song about
a Turkey Buzzard...compelled me to write this...

The buzzard roosts the limb so high
above the desert floor in wait.
Residing there, his coal black eye
observing that the time grows late.

The buzzard drools, the buzzard cries
into the sky of brightest noon.
In wait of that which slowly dies
upon the earth now very soon.

The buzzard dark of feather black
of beak and claws to skin the flesh.
The bird so big, circles, comes back
until the meal is foul not fresh.

The air is hot, the sky is blue
the boulders lie in wasted rest.
The wait is long, but coming due,
as one last breath does rise a breast.

Upon the lie of shadows long
the bird shall rise on claw shorn feet.
The foulest smell, now very strong
awaits his maw, a coal black feast.

The buzzard flies, the buzzard soars
into the night on moon chilled air.
And from the cries, of desert roars
a coal black eye now blinks in stare.

And from the soar of circle gloom
a coal black eye now seals their doom.

And yes, I know there are a lot of 'the' in
this....intentional..especially if you try to
sing along....go for it!!!

(smiles) Oh Barry, I love this, sweet friend, I can truly imagine a western inspiring this, as my most recent posts within the past weeks have been country music lyrics I have written and out in the wide open is where the spirit of these songs rest!
