On the corner,
Where I travel all the time,
Past the market,
On the street without a sign,
There sits a cross.

It’s a symbol,
Of a little boy and friend.
Just a marker,
For the place he met the end
Of precious life.

He was walking,
Being cautious as he could,
Then saw a car
And was slammed against the hood…
By drunken man.

And still today
As I drive beside the shrine,
Past the market,
On the street without a sign…
A teardrop falls.

- And so it was that time stood still -
     (blink, breathe, stand, fight)

Where I live a very talented artist painted a man killed as you say, on the side of a building. He was looking out a window and had the most beautiful wings imagined.

Alyssa, though this is sad, it
is also very beautiful.

Alyssa~
You write the tender of this shrine to the victim~

I lost a brother to the irresponsible actions of a drunk driver ... so this one touches me deeply~

Thank you sweetie~

Touching,  an understatement....  Beautiful,
though sad...such a senseless happening.
You expressed feelings of many others very
well within this poem....Thank You!

It's so sad that the teardrop took the place of the sign.                   Sadie

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Alyssa, this is so tragic, dearest friend, it pains me to see way too many drunk-driving accidents each year and moreover more families affected by losses in those! (sad sigh) I pray for all the families who have lost someone in them, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Alyssa, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

You see this more and more now..
people leaving teddy bears and flowers, etc., where accidents claimed a life.
So sad....so very very sad.
Hugs~

PouringJewels,
its so hard to look at that kind of thing, especially when you know how true it is, that it actually happened, and sadly, will again. Thanks for your reply.

Dixie,
I know its heartbreaking to see, I can't even imagine what it must be like for the families.... thanks for your reply.

Ethel,
the only beauty is in letting it change you... but so many people will do the same thing again *sigh* ..thanks for your reply to you too.

midgetday3,
I'm glad it touched you, thank you

Marge,
I can't even imagine what that must be and have been to you, I wish I could change that for you...
thanks for your reply.

Magnus,
thank you sir. There always is some sort of beauty in grief, I'm not sure how or why, but its there. Mostly though, sadness. I'm glad this touched you, again, thanks.

Always, Alyssa

Sadie,
yes... but how much more sad would it be if no tears were shed. Thanks for your reply.

Noah,
yes its heartbreaking isn't it? People don't realise that its lives, loves, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, friends, workers.. that are being affected by just one persons 'fun' or one persons mistake. I wish people would think about it. Thanks for your reply.

Enchantress,
I see it all the time now, one little memorial has been there months now, and there are always fresh flowers there beside the road.. you just know that the little boy was loved so much and had alot going for him, it just aches so much to see. Thanks for your reply, and hugs back.

Always, Alyssa
