Special Angel I remember it quite clearly As if it were yesterday Cupid shot me with his arrow Then went on his merry way A special angel delivered So innocent and pure He left a handprint on my heart That soon became the cure Love burns bright in youthful eyes And life becomes a dream But with the changing tides of fate We meet a new extreme Christmas came and Christmas went Before I got the call A broken voice began to speak And said sorry, but it's Paul To the hospital we traveled And I began to pray A silent vigil by his side As hours turned to days The special angel's time had come To spread his wings and fly But even though he left this earth I refused to say goodbye A gentle breeze upon my cheek A kiss from the heavens above A heart full of memories To remind me of his love As time continues marching on I know I'm not alone For through the heavens, peering down I have a special angel of my own |

This was so beautiful and bittersweet. I am sending this to my mother. She suffered a similar loss quite a few years ago but has continued to feel Ed by her side ever since. What a wonderful trubute and fantastic first post. I am adding this to my private library for future reads too and do look forward to reading more of your work here.  Sherry |

Dear Jackie, I promised to email your poem to my mother..... this is what she wrote back. "It was 14 years ago yesterday that Ed passed away. Thank you for helping me to remember him - he was and still is my "angel". It still hurts like yesterday.
