(B)ecause  (L)ove  (T)aste

it is the last good sandwich of the season
until the summer vines again run juice
for the sun kisses fallen leaves for now
I don’t toast the bread I like it soft
the way it clings to my teeth in taste
take my time spreading the mayo thick
the tart tang flavors the sweet so right
light leaves crisp and cool lie with
hardy bacon lines in mapled hickory
but the real heart here is tomatoes
dirt ripened beauties thin skinned
the color emotions run when high
dripping things much better than good
cut them thin and layer them thick
top it with the other side of another harvest
and I feel a twinge of sadness before I finish
the last good sandwich of the season

Droooooooooool
I can almost see you savoring this.
(tho i prefer mine toasted and light on the mayo)
And a nice thing about a blt is the many kinds of bread that it works with.

OneSlick~
This is so clever .... and SCRUMPTIOUS SOUNDING~
Now I'm hungry ... doesn't happen often, but oh, how I love that BLT~
Heavy on the B, light on the toast, OR untoasted ... those scrumptious fresh T's from the garden ... and light on the bunny food~

If I keep writing, maybe I'll pass this craving mood~

Love it girl~

Enjoyed.

Sounds like my kind of BLT (minus the mayo)
Clever writing Helen, and I loved the way it turned out like a heavenly delight.  Where's desert?

MMMMMMMM.... I haven't eaten more than an apple today and this makes me want to go eat one... And I agree.... the greenhouse tomatoes just don't have the same taste.... Field ripe tomatoes... dripping with nature, crisp lettuce... I prefer red leaf lettuce to the boring iceberg.... and bacon... half crisp... bread barely toasted... just golden warm.... and yes.. lots of mayo!

Lovely to remember the taste... had one about a month ago.

Thanks for the memory. Well written!

BLT in paradise! LOL!

(giggles) Only instead of the beer, I'd like a Pepsi Crystal and can I get jalapenos on the side? (giggles) This is soooooo cute and clever, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Helen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
